For more than 175 years, Girard College has provided a tuition-free residential education for children from low-income, single-parent households in Philadelphia. Students receive academic, social, emotional and residential support in a stable five-day boarding environment designed to remove barriers and open doors. Demand remains extraordinary, with more than 1,200 families seeking fewer than 100 available openings. Girard is now deepening its academic model with expanded STEM, engineering, robotics and digital-design opportunities — bringing a historic mission into the future while continuing to give students the stability and opportunity envisioned by founder Stephen Girard.
